Parent newsletter, February 2018
Welcome to Term 4’s edition of WASPS newsletter. This newsletter is designed to keep you up-to-date with the latest events, new starters and other pre-school news. Other information and events will also be posted on the WASPS facebook page https://www.facebook.com/WASPSpreschool/.
Term 4 topic
This terms topic is ‘Spring’ and ‘Easter’. We will be doing a range of activities including creating our own daffodils, having a pancake race, talking about what happens during the spring season and discussing animals, painting flowers, creating mother’s day cards, Easter cards and making Easter themed treats and more. During this term we will cover national events St David’s Day, Shrove Tuesday, World Book Day, Comic Relief, Mother’s Day and Easter.
Odds Farm Trip
With our topic being ‘Spring’ we would like to take the opportunity this term to take a trip to Odd’s Farm Park in Wooburn Common, High Wycombe. During the visit the children will be able to bottle feed kid goats, see cow milking, egg collecting, lambing & kidding, meet both grown and baby animals, rabbit time and enjoy indoor and outdoor play equipment.
This trip is open to every family that attends pre-school, even if your child does not normally attend on a Friday. This is the first time we are visiting Odds Farm as a setting, but after reflection of last years trip to the earths trust’s lambing day, we feel Odds Farm will be able to offer more animal interaction. Further details to follow soon. You can find more information at the Odd’s Farm website: https://www.oddsfarm.co.uk/
We would like to remind parents that as a setting we have a ‘Food and Drink Policy’ which includes a ‘Water Only Policy’ and would like to ask that the children’s bottles only contain water. After a few incidents we have had to throw away some of our puzzles due to juice being spilt on them.
World Book Day
We will be participating in World Book Day on Thursday 7th March. We would like the children to bring in their favourite book to share with each other over the day and they can wear fancy dress if they so wish.
We will be participating in Comic Relief on Friday 15th March. For a small donation of £1.00 we would like to invite the children to dress-up in their favourite costumes or wear red clothing. There will be fun activities during the day including baking, pass the parcel, musical chairs and more.
Easter Holiday Club
We are running holiday club for 9 days over the Easter period from Monday 8th April to Thursday 18th April for children aged 2-11 years. There are two session lengths – short day 9:00am-3:00pm at £25.50 and a long day 9:00am-5:30pm £36.12. Each day has a different theme. The activities programme details will follow shortly. If you would like to book a place for your child/ren, please contact Synetta on 01865 859933 or firstname.lastname@example.org. Places are limited, so please make your booking as soon as possible.
Close the Gates
It is essential that both gates are closed when entering and leaving Pre-School, so the safety of those children still-on-site can be upheld.
