Parent newsletter, June 2019
Welcome to Term 6’s edition of WASPS newsletter. Ahoy! This term’s topic is ‘Pirates and Mermaids’.
All hands on deck as we will be starting term with a trip to Beale Park and making father’s day cards. Other activities include singing shanties, reading stories, pirate number activities using gold coins, aqua play and more. Throughout the term we will also begin our school transition with visits weekly to school and lots of sports day practice for our annual sports day.
Goodbye to two members of staff
It is with great sadness that we will be saying goodbye to two members of staff this term.
On Monday 17th June we shall be saying goodbye to Joey, who has been working with us for the past four years in both pre-school and after school club. Some of you may know that he is an avid traveller and he will be off to Australia to live a life down under. So, if you see Joey next week during drop offs or pick ups then feel free to wish him luck in his next adventure.
On Monday 8th July we shall be saying goodbye to Theresa, who has been working with us for more than 15 years in pre-school. In recent years she has worked the Monday morning sessions, so if you see Theresa on Monday mornings during drop off then feel free to wish her luck in her next adventure.
We know that some of you may wish to get Joey or Theresa a leaving gift. There will be two donation envelopes with Synetta from next week if you wish to contribute to them. Please do so by Friday 14th June for Joey or by Friday 5th July for Theresa. There will also be two cards for parent’s to sign if you wish.
Kids Nearly New Sale - Cancelled
Unfortunately, due to lack of interest the committee has decided to cancel the ‘Kids Nearly New Sale’ on Saturday 8th June. We would like to thank the parents who donated to the pre-school for the sale and let you know that they are still planning on doing a fundraiser, in another capacity, using the items already donated in the coming months.
Early Drop Off Notice
From Monday 10th June the early drop off time will be from 8:40am. Until that time the door will remain closed to allow staff to set up effectively for the morning session.
Have you filled your smartie tube? There is just over a week remaining before we tally the total amount raised for this fundraiser so if you haven’t already, check your pockets for those 20p’s or £1 coins and fill it. Please bring it in and hand it to either Joey or Synetta before Friday 14th June.
Our Schools App - Reminder
Did you see our new phone app? In March we placed a letter in your child’s draw that gave you information on how to download ‘OurSchoolsApp.’ If in the event of a school closure, fundraising event, term date changes, trips and more, you will have the information as soon as possible sent directly to your phone via a push notification. We have tested the app over the past few months and feel that the notifications for the calendar from the Pre-school Team alone will be useful for all. If you need any help downloading or finding the application on your device, then do not hesitate to speak to Joey or Synetta.
Warm Weather Clothing
Now that there are some warmer days, we would like to ask that your child comes to pre-school with a sun hat and sun-cream in their bag, having already had an application of sun-cream applied before arrival. A bottle of cold water is essential and a change of clothing as the children take part in a lot of water play. Please remember to clearly label all items of clothing.
